Natural Winter Skincare Routine | 5 Steps To Healthier Skin

December 9, 2019 By Brianna Lamberson Leave a Comment

Winter is such a hard time for our skin. Whether you have dry skin, oily skin, or combination skin you need to consider switching to organic skincare products to naturally care for your skin and keep it clear and healthy during the winter months.

In this week’s highly requested episode I share my winter skincare tips and how to take care of your skin in winter using all-natural and organic skincare products.

Plus I show you my new favorite organic Botnia skincare products that are so luxurious it’s like having a mini facial every day.

Dive into the post to learn about my 5 step process you can use in the morning and evening for healthy, glowing, skin this winter.

Step one – cleanse & exfoliate

I highly recommend you cleanse twice a day in the morning before applying makeup and once at night before bed. You can exfoliate twice if you’re using a gentle type of exfoliation.

Exfoliating will sluff off any extra dry skin you might have during the winter-time and helps promote the regeneration of new skin cells while revealing healthier, glowing skin underneath.

You can use a physical or chemical exfoliant depending on your needs. I use a gentle physical exfoliation daily.

Trader Joe’s makes an activated charcoal super texturized facial cleansing cloth that I use to exfoliate. Choosing the right cleaner can be hard, but when you work with a skincare expert or aesthetician you can figure out what kind of cleanser works best for your skin type and needs.

I personally keep it simple and use an activated charcoal facial cleansing bar soap with vitamin e oil from Dr. Woods. Charcoal is naturally detoxifying and will help to remove bacteria and germs from your face while cleansing your pores from chemicals and toxins. And vitamin e helps to reduce the signs of aging and heals damaged skin. Plus vitamin e is extra hydrating.

Whatever cleanser you choose make sure you choose one that is all-natural, organic, chemical-free, and vegan if possible.

Step two – balance & tone

Applying a pH balancing toner after cleansing is going to help keep your skin hydrated and clear while also preparing your skin to receive the skincare that you will apply after cleansing.

I’ve been using this rosewater for years and I love it. There are no other ingredients and it smells lovely. Rose is great for more mature and dry skin because Rose is thought to be naturally restorative.

Spritz a few pumps onto your dry skin and immediately apply your serum.

Step three – super hydrating serum

Serums are super potent treatments for the skin that also come in a wide variety of formulas. Again, you’ll have to choose which is right for you based on your skincare needs. However, as with all things beauty related, I have to encourage you to stick to the purest ingredients available. And that doesn’t always mean that you’ll be paying an arm and a leg.

There are plenty of great products out there that are cost-effective and give you great results.

I’m in love with Botnia’s Hydrating Serum which has hyaluronic acid and vitamin b5. For the winter and for anti-aging, this product has won me over completely.

Once you apply your serum and it has fully absorbed into the skin, neck, and décolletage you can now moisturize.

Step four – deep moisture cream

Sticking with a skincare system within a particular line of products is always a good idea. And although I’ve mixed it up, I love this Daily Face Cream from Botnia again. It’s one of the most luxurious products I’ve ever owned and I love the way it makes my skin look and feel.

Apply a small amount on the face, neck, and chest and massage in gently. Depending on whether or not you use a tinted SPF moisturizer or whether you use a clear or powdered SPF you can apply a small to medium amount of cream.

At this point, you will be done with your routine if you’re headed to bed. If you’re getting ready for your day you can move on to the next step which is to apply your SPF.

Step five – SPF and moisturize

Even in winter, it’s important to protect your skin from damage so always apply your SPF. I use this one from Juice Beauty and have been using it for years.

I love the lightweight feel, smell, the anti-aging benefits and the light coverage it gives. On a day when you don’t feel like wearing a foundation or concealer, you can easily just wear this and feel just as good!

Now you’re ready for whatever the winter day brings! I hope you enjoyed these tips.

And don’t forget to leave me a comment letting me know what your biggest winter skincare challenges are or what your best winter skincare tips are.
