What I want to say to encourage you is that when you’re waking up and you feel alone like you’re actually not excited for the day, then don’t give up.
When you feel like you’re slipping further away from your goals, like maybe you want to loose weight or maybe you want to finally hang those curtains but you just can’t seem to do it…
Don’t give up.
What I want you to know is that you’re not far away at all. The lie is that you’re too far away to make a difference so you should just give up anyways. The truth is that you’re actually very close. No matter how you feel you’re actually very close.
The key to knowing that closeness is to never believe the lie that your too far away and that it will never happen for you. God says he has a hope that does not disappoint. Love never fails so you can be sure that it will never give up on you.
Loosing weight is a tricky business. Especially for us women. There’s a lot of unspoken and spoken pressure to have that all figured out. Even if most of the time you feel comfortable in your body there is this secret notion that you still might need to loose a few pounds. Or that you’ll ultimately be much happier when the weight is gone.
I get that. I live that. Even now. To a degree.
That’s why I feel this is such a designed attack on our spirits and worthiness. Our value is kind of wrapped up in our body. And that belief permeates every area of our life. It chips away at our confidence to do just about anything that is good.
“Had one cookie. Now I’m fat. May as well have 17 more.” “Not enough time to do that hour long cardio tape. Oh well I guess I’ll never do it!”
But what about the option of doing a little?! What about saying, “Ok I had one cookie. That was divine. I feel good about eating that cookie”?
See, the same way of thinking only gets more of the same. If you keep telling yourself the lie that you’re really far away from your goals or that you’re simply never, ever going to reach them then the truth is: you won’t.
Sorry to be the bad guy here. But I’m saying this because I love you. If I don’t believe it my gut enough to say it to you, then I won’t believe it for me. Here’s the final verdict: believe in the opposite of the lies.
Lie (you’re never going to loose weight).
Truth (you’re definitely going to loose weight).
Lie (you’re not good enough and you should probably just give up).
Truth (you’re good enough and you should never give up).
Lie (one mistake means you should scrap the whole thing, gain 40 more pounds, go live in a cave and never come out again).
Truth (one mistake means you shouldn’t scrap the whole thing, you will not gain 40 more pounds because of this, and caves are scary so you know you’ll never live in one).
Stop believing in the lies. You are so beautiful. You are so wonderful. You are so close to reaching your goals. Please don’t give up. Not today, not tomorrow. Not when you’ve have one cookie and not when you’ve had the whole bag. Health is not a destination. You won’t get there someday. So stop trying. You have to make it be every day. Health is today and all the little choices you make today. So live the best choices you can today and believe the truth that you are closer than you know.
