Ways To Be Style Ready When You’re Running Late And Don’t Have Time To Plan

November 30, 2017 By Brianna Lamberson Leave a Comment

Ever wish you could throw on an outfit, brush your hair, slap on some mascara and look style ready? It’s totally possible to get ready in 5 minutes and look style ready. And it’s a lot less complicated than you might think.

If you’re anything like me, trying to get ready and out the door is a race to beat the clock. Is the dog walked, does he have food, is lunch packed, are the lights are off, is there enough dry shampoo in my hair, do I look presentable even though I haven’t showered? If you have kids the pressure, I’m sure, to get everything taken care of before leaving the house is even greater.

As women, we’re amazing at multi-tasking and I believe this why our mornings can feel a little frantic.

We’re certain we can take care of it all in record time. But what ends up happening is that we sacrifice our self-care and personal style as we throw something on in a few minutes.  We come dangerously close to a “standing in front of the closet” meltdown.

Or maybe, we even have a wardrobe malfunction later in the day or just feel like a frumpy mess.

I hate going through this personally and I hate the thought of you going through it too. That’s why I’m a broken record when it comes to having a minimalist wardrobe of high-quality, unique, and artful items that look amazing whether you had 5 minutes or an entire hour to get ready.

one / / Zara “Join Life” Ecologically Grown Cotton T-Shirt

Everything will always come down to basics. Basic colors, basic pieces, and basic pairings. Keep things simple. But keep the items you’re selecting pitch perfect.

A whole look can shift based on the exact items you choose or don’t choose. Jeans and a t-shirt, for example, is a classic combo that I rely on all the time. But the t-shirt I pick is unique. The jeans I go to are well-made and one of a kind.

When you start with quality items that not everyone and their mother owns, you can take a basic look like this and turn it into something that is totally you. And it won’t take you forever to style because you’ve removed all the guesswork.

A basic deep-v t-shirt is definitely on my capsule wardrobe wish list. I’m really feeling this one from Zara’s Join Life collection. Their attempt at trying to move towards more sustainable practices.

two / / The Boat Hobe by Hobes

Basic flats are nice. But what really makes your look style ready is pairing simple pieces with adorable and well-made shoes, like these from Hobes.

Hobes are lightweight and handmade to last using time-tested Italian manufacturing practices. These would go with just about anything you can imagine.

A cute skirt, cropped trousers, a lovely dress, or even shorts. It’s simple. Just pick the best quality you can afford. But always go for something more unique.

three / / Re/Done Vintage Levi’s

Ok, so I’ve definitely used these exact jeans in a Style Edit a few weeks ago. But I loved them so much I had to use them again. Plus, I genuinely believe in rotating staple pieces. I like that on this blog you’re not going to be pushed to buy things you don’t need or want.

Less is more.

If you have a favorite pair of jeans, go with it. Use those in place of these when you’re creating a mental picture of how styling this outfit would work for you.

Having a classic pair of Levi’s will be a staple piece in your wardrobe in time. I believe everyone should own that perfect pair of jeans. I know some of you are not a denim fanatics like I am. I get it. So do what works for you. No pressure. But if you are someone who relies heavily on jeans to get you through the week, then styling an outfit like this will be a life-saver for you.

four / / Lesca Sunglasses

It all comes down focusing on your style, what you like, and what works for you. The key is that when you’re picking out pieces and accessories you really hone in on buying unique and high-quality items.

I have also mentioned these sunglasses in another post. I have a huge crush on these and know that they would last decades. They go with everything and can easily be worn in any season. When you have a few minutes to get ready and you throw on a beautifully crafted item like this, it will subtly lift your look and make heads turn.

five // Gap Icon Zip Denim Jacket

You might be wondering why I picked this jean jacket from the Gap. I know!! I’m giving them a little credit for this item. It’s part of their “Gap For Good” line, similar to what Zara is doing.

I’m not 100% sold on these huge fashion lines making a small dent in the sustainability movement. But I will clap for it if it means they will continue to move in that direction.

If you have a denim jacket like this, it will be a staple in your wardrobe.

six / / Meyelo Leather Tote

Again, choosing really high-quality accessories will instantly add cool factor. You’ll look style ready, like you worked with a stylist, even though you literally had zero time to plan or think about your outfit.

Accessories like this ethically made leather tote from Meyelo will work for you. I also used this in another post. But I think it deserves another look. It’s well-made, minimal, will age well, and can hold a ton of stuff without looking like a mess!

In conclusion

Make your wardrobe work for you. These items need to make you look good. When you invite the most unique and well-made items into your life, you have to do very little to look style ready at a moments notice. No more wondering or worrying about what you look like. You look like you and a more confident, beautiful you!
