What I know about you is that you have ZERO time to waste on things that do not matter. Most days you’re going make-up free…which I love about you. That’s why I’m sharing my tried and true 5-minute all natural, all organic, makeup routine with you so that you can have the best of both worlds: a gorgeous look and no-stress.
I believe that an o’naturale, fresh-faced look is the most classic and elegant way to show up in the world. Make-up shouldn’t leave us feeling addicted to an unachievable standard of beauty.
In my opinion, makeup should enhance your natural beauty, not leave you feeling naked or stark without it.
This obsession with contouring is a little wacko and I wonder what joy these girls really get from spending 30 minutes or more on their makeup. How do they feel when they see themselves in the mirror or a photo without makeup? Just wondering…no judgment.
Makeup can be a fun and easy part of your luxurious self-care routine.
Conventional makeup
There is a cost to using conventional products and I don’t think it’s worth it.
- Higher prices
- Heavy metal toxicity
- Animal testing and cruelty
- Skin damage and premature aging
- Endocrine disrupting chemicals
- Carcinogenic chemicals
- Becoming addicted to the way you look with makeup
- Distorted self-image
Beautiful is simple…and natural
We absorb whatever touches our skin. This goes for makeup too.
Products need to be of the highest quality; absolutely no chemicals, dyes, artificial flavors (lip balm) or colors, chemical antibacterials, or heavy metals.
Designer or drugstore, you have to start questioning everything. I highly recommend checking out a website called ewg.org where you can look up any makeup or skincare product to find it’s toxicity rating.
My 5 Minute Organic and Minimalist Make-Up
I have a very simple makeup routine that works for me. These are some of the products I use most frequently. I always focus on three areas of my face even when I choose not to wear cover-up or foundation.
Makeup for the eyes
First, I have to confess that yes, I almost never go without mascara. I can happily skip everything else but when it comes to the eyes, I do not skimp. For the eyes, I am currently using Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Ultra Natural Mascara.
I’ve tried other natural and organic brands in the past and did like them. I’ll link some other options just below. I’m just trying to find a product and a price that works for me.However, with Juice Beauty there are some things I like and do not like. I love that it’s a great value. You can get a long lasting tube for about $18.00 – $24.00 on Amazon depending on when it’s on sale. It does create a lot of volume, which is good, but I do not like how clumpy it gets. Something else to take note of is how it wears.
It doesn’t leave any flakes, which is great! But it does leave my eyelashes feeling a little stuck together. I’m going to keep trying other brands and maybe go back to my original love, Dr. Hauschka.
I’ve also tried this one from Mineral Fusion, and this one from Eco Bella. Liked them both. My top picks right now are the Dr. Hauschka and the Eco Bella.
Makeup for your lips
I love this Lip Shine from RMS. I get compliments on the color and look all the time. What I love about RMS Beauty is that it’s about as natural as you can get. No chemicals or toxins whatsoever.
A little goes a long way, the color stays put, it hydrates and heals your delicate lips, and this little pot of lip shine will last you a million years. Because it is so richly pigmented you need just the tiniest amount to get a beautiful pop of color.
You can also use it on your eyes and cheeks in a pinch.
I’m totally obsessed with this intense lip gloss from an Australian company, Grown Alchemist. I actually found out about this brand from my local organic beauty shop Wild Lavender. If you’re ever in Knoxville definitely check them out. It’s also where I got my RMS Lip Shine.
The Grown Alchemist Lip Gloss is super high gloss. It makes your lips look so plump and juicy you wouldn’t guess it’s a chemical free product. It has a lovely watermelon smell so it totally reminds me of lip smackers from the drug store. One very important thing to note if you do get this product is that it seems to ooze out of the tube. You do not need to squeeze at all to get the correct amount out for the application. You might find that a little frustrating. But it’s worth it when you have the juiciest lips you’ve ever seen.
Makeup for your cheeks
Dr. Hauschka has been a go-to staple of mine for years. I love how it gives a delicate flushed look to my cheeks. Even though it is a little on the pricey side it does last forever.I’ve had the same compact for so long and it still wears great. The color I use is slightly more on the orange side rather than the pink side. The powder lays nicely on the skin without making you look overly “blushed”.
Makeup for your face
And finally, though I don’t really advocate looking like your skin is eerily perfect, I do think that a foundation or tinted moisturizer can have its place in your routine. I personally love Juice Beauty’s Phyto-Pigments Flawless Serum Foundation.
I use it around my nose, which tends to get red, and my T zone. I use a very little on occasion to lightly cover up any redness. If you have a photo shoot, a special event, or have a zit you can use this serum to heal and camouflage.
In conclusion
Try considering makeup as a part of your new self-care routine. Focus on the basics: eyes, lips, and cheeks for the maximum results in the least amount of time. Remember that using organic and all natural makeup can help you look years younger by keeping your skin healthy.
Lastly, have fun with this! You are already beautiful, so enjoy something a little extra to make you feel special.

Wow, you read my mind! I don’t usually (ever) wear makeup, but lately thinking of coming up with a five minute makeup routine. Pregnant with my third baby, I’d like a way to feel a little extra put together, especially on days when I’m just feeling huge. This is just the kind of resource I was looking for. Thank you for the tips! I will definitely be trying these products out.

Thank you!! I’m due August 11. Summertime is the best time for pregnancy fashion in my opinion. Lots of dresses! But I am super bummed to not be able to wear high waisted jeans or skirts until next fall. I have been loving your blog lately, super practical and applicable! Thank you! I’ll let you know if I think of something. ????
