If you love classic French style clothing then you need to know what the key pieces for French style are.
Today I’m sharing the most iconic 5 pieces you need in French-inspired wardrobe so you can pull off that minimalist French girl style.
I would argue that this look is the most iconic look of all time and it’s not just the French who wear it.
Bob Dylan, Jeanne Damas, Julia Roberts, Bruce Springsteen, Diane Keaton, Caroline de Maigret, and countless others have pulled off this look and it is so timeless and chic that I think it will never go out of style.
It’s also so ubiquitous and versatile that any body shape, size, or style can pull it off, you can find them at any budget so this truly is the best outfit.
As you know I’m getting ready for my trip to Paris and I thought to myself, “What if I lose my luggage and I have to live in only the things I’m wearing, what would I wear?” This is the five-piece French wardrobe that would get me through.

I loved this video Bri! And I agree on your choices. I did not know about the straw bag though. So that’s a fun thing to learn.
I’m going to check out the Sam Edelman flats for sure!

Aww. Thanks, Pam! I’ve heard several people on YouTube in the comments section advise against the straw bag, but I’m still going to wear it. They said it’s more of a summer thing. But I love it because I can put all I need in for travel.
The Sam Edelman’s are a dream! Let me know if you end up getting them.

Hi Brianna
Great video – thank you most of us have some of the pieces ‘ ready to go already’
The belt was the perfect finishing touch.
Paris is one of the cities l go to frequently and l think you will be surprised that outside the 1 – 2 arrisdonment people are as badly dressed as anywhere else in the world and few actually meet your high standard. I think you will be admired as the archetypal chic French women by the French – it will be interesting to hear your views. I strive to emulate the ‘French Look’ because it transcends all cultures – a perfect example is Brigitte Macron.
Your advice – other than choosing petite fitting – what style blazer would you advise for petite hour glass body shape?
Enjoy your time in Paris – you will be much admired.

Hi Georgina!
This comment is awesome. Thank you so much for your kind words. It’s very funny that you say they are badly dressed like everyone else. 🙂 I think that’s true everywhere. I’m fascinated by the idea of being confronted by what people are actually wearing in Paris and hopefully striking up some conversations.
As for your question, I would say that if you’re petit going for petite tailoring is the most important thing and then focusing on style. If you’re hourglass you have the most desired body shape and almost all styles work for your body type.
Decide what style you love and go for that. I love something like this from Brooks Bro.
Let me know what you decide and if I can help with anything else!

Hi Brianna
I decided on a Banana Republic black lightweight wool petite fitted jacket – beautiful!
I totally agree re the straw bag – it is just a perfect choice. A leather cross body or tote bag would make the outfit look ‘corporate’ whereby a straw bag adds a certain je n’ais se quoi.
Enjoy Paris – Paris will enjoy you.
