We have great items in our closet. What we need is new ideas about how to put these items together.
Not to say you have all the items you need or want, but you really do have things hiding in your closet right now that I would immediately identify as top quality and super cute.
As August winds down 🫠it’s natural to start thinking about fall. But! We still have to get dressed for the summer.
Ok, ok, ok. I know it’s still 90 degrees here in Knoxville, but I just can’t help but love this outfit idea.
However, you could easily make this outfit work for summer as you start planning your fall wardrobe.
My client base is mainly creative entrepreneurs, and I like to style outfits for this group of people. But this shouldn’t limit you from enjoying the look too.
This is the kind of outfit you could easily wear to the office. It’s professional without being too stuffy and communicates a sense of leadership through the color palette and the accessories, particularly the handbag and the jewelry.
Style Tips
During my client sessions, I teach them a styling method I created years ago while working in a consignment shop. It’s called the anatomy of an outfit. It’s really just the idea of understanding the construction of the outfit and making one swap to create an entirely new look.
It’s the low-hanging fruit of styling.
Make a swap, keep iterating, and before long you’ll have so many outfit combinations you won’t know what to do with yourself. Wouldn’t that be great!?
Ok, so here’s what I’d do to style this for multiple occasions. Simply take the idea of the white bottom and expand on it.
- White linen trousers
- White jeans (wide leg, skinny, straight leg)
- Cream silk slip skirt
- White cotton shorts or a mini skirt
- Long white denim skirt
- White silk pull-on pants
- White board shorts or linen shorts
The white painter’s pants could easily be swapped for any of those options above and you’d have such a different feel.
The beauty of having basics like this that have a point of view, like the Everlane polo sweater. They have endless styling potential. You can stretch a piece like this in your wardrobe not only because of the classic style but also because of the color and the material (100% cotton).
Now if you really want to mix things up, start swapping the white bottom for black, brown, blue, or maybe even red, and see what happens.
I hope you try this styling trick and try this look. Let me know if you end up doing styling it because I’d love to see what you come up with. And if you have any style questions you’d like to run by me, don’t hesitate to reach out and let me know.
I’m booking my styling services for October/November. My calendar will fill up fast for the fall season, so this is the best time to book in.
