Day 2 My Ideal Week

January 11, 2017 By Brianna Lamberson Leave a Comment

Day 2 – My Ideal Week

Budgeting your most limited resource

This is day 2 of a 7 day challenge which is an excerpt from my upcoming ebook.

_

Let’s cut to the chase mon cher, because we don’t have a lot of time.

What do you want?

Whatever you want or want to accomplish will only happen if you plan for it and make time for it.

Time is our most limited resource. Therefore, our most valuable.

Looking at life from a bird’s eye view in weeks, months, and years is crucial if you want to have balance that lasts.

“Mary’s Story”

“I’ve had my own photography business for almost 10 years and I’ve struggled with time management and separating my business life from my personal life, managing work hours versus time off.

Creating my schedule each week for work has become a huge stress relief. I’m more productive, focused, and structured.

I have more time to walk, do yoga, watch movies, cook delicious food, get together with family and friends and really enjoy my time off. Having morning and bedtime routines have helped improve my sleep quality and self care so I have more energy and feel more balanced and ready to work and play.”

Getting control of your week is vital to taking the pressure and anxiety out your life. Blocking off your time and looking at your life in big chunks, rather than living day to day is going to reduce stress and build confidence. We tend to let ourselves get sucked into mindless things when we don’t know what we’re supposed to be doing and then all of a sudden we remember that we had to be at that one appointment!

I use the Passion Planner because it shows every hour and half hour from 6:00am – 10:30pm. This forces me to understand how I’m spending each our of my day.

The truth is, you’re already naturally blocking out time, but you may not be thinking about it on a conscious level. So switching from unconsciously spending 45 minutes getting ready each morning to consciously spending 30 minutes should be easy.

 Time Wasters

  • not including travel time or bumper time
  • spending too much time on a task without a deadline
  • not writing down what you have to do on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly basis
  • not blocking out time in weekly chunks

Time Savers

  • Do the same task, at the same time, on the same day, every week like: Going to the grocery store, cleaning the bathroom, going to the yoga studio, picking kids up from school every day
  • Including travel time and bumper time in-between appointments
  • Scheduling planning days
  • Setting timers for tasks like cleaning, checking email, working out, and cooking

You have to start planning. And the best way to plan is to get a planner. That’s right. And old fashioned planner that you write in.

Your Assignment

  1. Create an Ideal Week routine.
  2. Get a Passion Planner and block out your time in categories. Go through the whole planner:
    1. Morning routine time, waking up time
    2. Physical Activity
    3. Grocery Shopping
    4. Going to bed time
    5. Leaving for work time
    6. Working time
    7. If your self-employed, setting boundaries around your most creative hours
    8. Appointments with anyone
    9. Church
    10. Fun time
    11. Date nights
    12. Doctors visits
    13. Self-care days
    14. Important holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, events, travel, vacations
    15. Things you want to do during a particular season that you always forget to do like Christmas cards or whatevs…

Do this for the whole year. It should look something like this. Make it yours! See you tomorrow {{ subscriber.first_name }} – email me if you have any questions.

Happy planning,

Bri
