It’s almost winter and that means we may be getting ready for holiday travel. Which means we’re going to have to start packing.
I’m notoriously last minute with just about everything, including packing. The hardest part about planning your travel capsule is the need to try everything on to see how items look together.
Depending on where you’re going and for how long, you might need to create a travel capsule wardrobe for different climates or occasions. And that can be challenging.
To make packing for a holiday trip easier, I’m using a wardrobe planning app to digitize my wardrobe and plan my Parisian-inspired capsule wardrobe.
I’ve personally never used a wardrobe planning app, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t wanted to. It’s just that I haven’t found one that’s suited me. To be honest, I just felt overwhelmed with all the options.
You also might have wondered how to use a wardrobe planning app, or which closet app is best, or how using a wardrobe planning app really helps improve your style.
Today, I’m showing you how to plan your capsule wardrobe using an app. Capsule wardrobe planning can be challenging and using a closet organization app helps to make putting together outfits super easy and intuitive.
Personally, I’m using a new app called Open Wardrobe to plan my Parisian travel capsule wardrobe.
Usually, I’m the worst at travel capsule wardrobe planning. I’m very last minute and don’t have the time to try everything on together to see if it all works.
But planning a travel capsule wardrobe for winter is even more tricky. Maybe you’re headed to a cooler climate and need items that you don’t normally wear. Or maybe you need to plan for a special holiday party. You need to be able to see which items work together and which don’t. Using the Open Wardrobe app makes wardrobe planning completely painless, and actually quite fun.
The Open Wardrobe app uses artificial intelligence to make digitizing your wardrobe basically seamless. As soon as you photograph your item, the app removes the background, categorizes the item, and adds the style and the color. It’s pretty amazing how instantly this happens.
You’re able to see a bird’s eye view of what you have in your Parisian style capsule wardrobe. You can quickly build outfits, create multiple wardrobes, and pre-plan looks for certain occasions or events.
Last week I had a virtual styling session with a lovely client and we planned nine looks using a handful of pieces for her upcoming vacation to the southwest. After the session, I sent her the link to Open Wardrobe, and here’s what she had to say about the app, “I love it so far. I would pay for it. I am still working on the best place to take my pictures, but I am beyond amazed at how intuitive it is!”
Another super unique feature of this app is that it has helpful content pre-loaded on the homepage. Our bestie from the channel, Jessica Harumi, has several helpful videos in the app about how to get the most out of your wardrobe.
And after speaking directly with the owner, Julia, I learned that there will be lots more features added to the app very soon. As for right now, you can create multiple wardrobes, filter by color, brand, and wardrobe to quickly find items and create outfits.
You can even schedule or mark when you’ve worn certain items or outfits so you can see how much wear you’re getting out of your closet. Plus, one feature that I’m particularly interested in is the ability to list the purchase price of each item. That means that you can start to see trends in spending.
Hopefully, in the future, there will be a budgeting feature to the app.
Open Wardrobe is also going to be more of a social platform as well. You’ll be able to share your closet with friends and connect over slow, minimal, and ethical fashion.
When I was planning my travel capsule wardrobe, I wasn’t sure if I would create the same outfits I had in the past. I wasn’t sure how exactly the app would help me. But the truth is that all the looks I created, 12 in all, were completely new to me.
Because the app made seeing all my pieces at one time so easy, it made putting together new outfit combinations super, super snappy.
This is such a fun and easy way to get ready for your holiday trip, to know what outfits to pack, and to see new outfit combinations you’ve never seen before.
