It’s rare in life that we have the opportunity to see a big transition coming our way.
This week marks the close to one large chapter and the beginning of another. If you watched last week’s vlog, you saw that Mike and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary while he wrapped up his years-long stint as a Firefighter with a county fire department.
During the time he had off we decided to get our act together and cozy up our home so that we could put our full attention to the job at hand…the fire academy.
He’s going to be in intensive physical, mental, and emotional training for 16 weeks and we just need our home and lifestyle to work without having to think about it all that much.
We’re notoriously frugal and hesitate to make large purchases especially given that we’re debt-free. But somehow this little window of time just felt like the perfect moment to do some grown-up things like buying a sofa, a dresser (which you saw), and a TV of all things.
Our recent trip to Ikea was not as fruitful as we would have hoped but it ended up working out in the end. Given that I’m a second-hand addict, I turned to Facebook Marketplace to search for a velvet sofa.
Turns out this is pretty hard to do. My burnt orange velvet dream sofa (very French girl) was not on Facebook Marketplace and after a long hunt in the shops, I decided that we’d have to wait, save, and invest in our dream couch some other time.
Luckily, there was a couple selling all their furniture on Facebook due to an upcoming job relocation and we happened to find a great used sofa that will make our space cozy and nice in the meantime. It’s not as French girl as I would have hoped but it’s a lovely piece nonetheless.
This week’s vlog is all about getting organized, rearranging my home, growing up a bit more, and starting a new chapter.
If you’ve ever wondered whether or not buying a used sofa online is a good idea then you’ll enjoy watching Mike and I try to figure this thing out.
Also, if you’re design savvy at all please – I beg you – help me figure out how to style my living room. Knowing my color scheme what would you recommend I do with my old Karlstaad Ikea loveseat?
Go velvet? Sell? Help!
