Unless you’ve been living under a rock you know that Marie Kondo’s Netflix series “Tidying Up” has been making huge waves and has practically gone viral.
But why is this series so important, why has it struck such a chord with so many Americans, and what do real-life organizers and stylists like me actually think about this series?
Minimalism is no joke these days and there are all different kinds of minimalists from all over the world teaching you how to live with less and how to break your addiction to things.
First things first, Marie Kondo is absolutely adorable. I love the way that she is non-judgemental. What strikes me about her is that she’s so tiny and quiet but she makes such a huge impact on people with a few words. This is a sign of a true minimalist. She never judges but gently helps you to see where you could be living a little bit freer.
As a personal stylist and professional organizer, it’s so important for me to help my clients see that the things in their closets might actually be something that they love. It may be that they don’t know how to style certain items or aren’t sure what exactly looks good on them.
How many times have you gone into your closet and said “I’ve had enough”, throwing your hands up and then take everything to Goodwill? Only to come back later and realize you have nothing to wear? That’s where people like myself come in to play. We help you understand the style of things and how to get the maximum amount of use out of each and every item. Not only that we teach you and educate you about the specialness of clothing and about how to create your own unique perspective when it comes to style.
Download my free e-book The Complete Closet Clean Out Guide. It’s taken me years to perfect this and this process is unique to me from working years in a consignment shop. This is the exact method I use with all of my clients and it’s something that I truly hope helps you.
