Minimalist DIY Paper Christmas Tree Ornaments

Looking for a simple DIY project to make your Christmas merrier?

I have a super cute DIY project for you today…paper Christmas tree ornaments.

After a recent early December “snow storm” in Knoxville and I got busy making the season bright in my home. I considered it a form of self-care to be honest with you because decorating my home the way I like it is something that brings me a lot of joy. As a creative and a minimalist, it’s really freeing to allow myself to say, “You know what…I don’t want a lot of stuff in my house” and “It’s not my style to have loads of knick knacks“.

If you’re like me, I want to give you full permission to do Christmas your way. It’s ok to have simple and disposable decorations that don’t take up space in your house. It’s ok to not put out family heirlooms or ornaments. It’s ok to keep things sparse.

Every year, I refine my vision for the way I want things to be and every year, I get a little bit clearer on my values. It’s a process, so don’t beat yourself up if it’s not coming together the exact way you want it to. Don’t give up on your vision.

All you need is:

• heavyweight sketch paper
• red and white twine or whatever you want
• a needle to puncture a hole for threading the twine
• a pencil for drawing and tracing the ornament
• scissors for cutting out the ornaments

Instructions:

• grab all of your supplies and a good spot to work
• free-hand the outline of the shape of a Christmas tree that is about 3 inches tall
• cut out the first tree and use that as your tracing template
• trace as many trees as you want and cut each one out
• poke a hole through each treetop and wiggle enough so that the twine can easily make its way through the paper
• tie the twine at the tops and hang on your Christmas tree!
