I can’t help but see the world I live in as stunning despite the unrelenting brokenness. Just because brokenness persists, doesn’t mean that beauty takes a holiday. No, there’s actually beauty to be found everywhere – even in brokenness. Perhaps especially in brokenness. And for me, I see everything as beautiful in some form.
My friend Niles once said while we were walking that he could see God in everything – he couldn’t help but see God – he couldn’t look away…
And that’s what it is. This is how I feel. I can’t look away.
I have to look because I am compelled to.
If I looked away, I would be driven mad by all the hurt that there is to see. It would be a pointless existence. But when we see that life is both painful and beautiful at the same time, we can find inspiration to focus on what matters most.
You only have one life and you must live it to the full. What do you want your life to mean? What do you want it to be about?
I’ve heard it said that, “The way you do one thing is the way you do everything.” But actually, I think that it goes like this:
the way you see one thing, is the way you see everything
So it is both what you see and what you do that matters.
Believe me when I say that – what you read matters, what you eat, wear, purchase, give, believe, speak, create and cherish matters. In fact it’s all that matters and it’s your mark on this world.
You living this life is the most indelible mark that can be made on the world. It lasts forever. And it begins now.
Now I want to hear from you. What would happen if you followed the call of your heart?
