I love to get them, I love to give them, and I always try to keep fresh flowers in my house. But when I think about flowers I never think about eating them until recently. I saw edible flowers mentioned on a blog and really became fascinated with the health benefits. I have eaten lavender and even rose but I’ve never had the more common variety flowers. I didn’t even know that there were dozens of different kinds of flowers that you can actually eat.
- Every Popsicle mold is different so choose your favorite mold and alter your measurements accordingly.
- You can choose flavors and juices that you prefer.
- You can purchase a pack of edible flowers at Earth fare in Bearden or Whole Foods Market. Check with your local grocery about placing a special order for edible flowers during the season.
- Please note that incorporating edible flowers into your diet should be a slow process. Start off with 3 to 4 petals at a time.
- Do not eat flowers from florists, nurseries, garden centers, or flowers found on the side of the road. Consume only flowers that you or someone else has grown specifically for that purpose.
- Organic fruit juice of your choosing. I’m using Organic Cherry Lemonade.
- One pack of edible flowers.
- Raspberries, black berries, or any berry of your choosing.
- First trim the flowers and remove any wilting or dead parts of the petals.
- Remove any petals from the stem if necessary.
- Once your petals are trimmed begin adding 3 to 4 petals per Popsicle mold and 3 -4 berries.
- Now you can add your fruit juice. Fill it up to the top, close the mold, and place in the freezer for 4-6 hours.
- You’re ready to enjoy your Popsicles.
